Well well well, SO SO SO much has happened since the last time I wrote on here. We have official been in the house for 4 weeks! We moved in on July 11th! Overdue for sure, we couldn't have been more happy and excited to get in, I was so excited I managed to throw myself down the stairs at our attys office :) GO ME!!! It's a total Natalie thing to do!
The day we moved in I packed up all of our things in the hotel and headed to the attys office to meet up with Jabin so he could finish signing the last of the papers. He was at work and running a little late so I ran in to tel the atty he would be just a few minutes late, and on my way out, I wiped out! Cried for a little bit managed to get to my car on my own and sit there thinking to myself "you've had 2 months to sit on your ass and do nothing and have a hurt ankle and the DAY you get to do something productive you throw yourself down the stairs!!!" Jabin got to the atty office and I just start bawling in my car, and he takes a look and then says "we are heading to the ER", um excuse me?!? No! We will not be doing anything other then signing papers, doing the final walk-through and then maybe we can go to the ER. We had waited too long to postpone any longer. Turns out it was just a nasty sprain, not as bad as last time so thats good, no crutches, but an air cast for a while. That night we rented a redbox movie, ate subway and slept in our living room on our air mattress.
The next day the movers came to the storage units and pack it all up again and move it into the HOUSE! They brought 6 guys with them and we were loaded and unloaded in about 5hrs. It felt so good to lay in our own bed that night!
Since the day we moved in we have been working on unpacking and updating rooms. Needless to say Hallie loves her new home, she roams around and she gets to watch over her unfenced yard. I work on projects out on our table in the backyard and Hallie is great about hanging out with me and not leaving the yard. When Jabin takes her out to potty she is never interested in leaving our yard, we are pretty lucky she is very well behaved.
I may be skipping forward a lot but it's the most recent thing we have done. We (ME) started peeling wallpaper about 3.5 weeks ago. We are lucky that the first owners primed the walls and then put up the paper properly. But the half up the wall boarder, that was a different story! I used a mixture of hot water and fabric softener a 1:1 combo and a puncturing tool to take down the paper, on 3 walls we had half wall of paper and a boarder and on the tallest, biggest wall we had floor to ceiling paper, UGLY PAPER! It took me about 2 weeks to peel the paper and pick off the border, then what I couldn't get off, or where I peeled too deep I did drywall mud to even it out. Jabin sanded all the mud and then primed the mudded areas. We even patched our first hole :) . Then I washed all the walls with soapy water to get any left over glue or yuck off the walls, and that took forever. I'm sure it was because all I wanted to do was paint, but we made sure that we did everything we could think of to make these walls look great, we wanted to prove we can do these things, we don't need a professional. It gives up a sense of pride. It's OUR home, and we've made it that way.
So last weekend we bought the paint and painted the whole living room. This room is very large and you all will realized why it took so long once you come visit us! With being tall Jabin and I have never really need a ladder to paint and even if we needed to be all little taller we never stood at the highest step you can stand on on a ladder to paint. Some parts of the room Jabin had to stand at the highest rung of the ladder and then be on his tippy toes. His calves were very sore the next day. We are perfectionist about painting now too. Jabin edged the ceiling with a little brush, two times around and then had to roll the higher parts while one the ladder twice. And I panted the baseboard and main walls twice. We ended up using 3 different colors and it turned out awesome. I do have to give all the credit to Jabin, I didn't think 3 colors would work, but this room looks amazing! Now the house is finally feeling like our home, it looks like us!.
Jabin's parents, Larry and Debra, will be heading into town in a few weeks, we plan on going to the NY state fair, its close in Syracuse. We might also go to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, which isn't too far from us either. It will be nice to show of our new digs to family. I have the guest room all set up also. It happened to be the color I wanted it so no painting needed.
Well I have more to say and I have pictures to show you guys but I don't have the time right this minute, they will come soon!
